Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really a one-time payment?

Yes! PRO and LIFETIME are one-time purchases. No subscriptions, no hidden fees, no recurring charges.

What's the difference between PRO and LIFETIME?

PRO covers all 35+ supported apps and adds Emergency Mode. LIFETIME includes everything in PRO plus AI Volume Learning (levels that fit each app, separately for the phone speaker and headphones; nothing changes until you tap to approve it), your sound profile to share, with future updates included.

Can I try it before buying?

Yes! The free version gives you 1 monitored app with unlimited auto-reduce, forever. And on first launch you get a 7-day full-access trial of all apps and Smart features. Try it out and upgrade whenever you're ready.

Is SoundAlert a medical device?

No. SoundAlert is a volume-control app, not a medical device. It automatically lowers your media volume above the limit you set; it does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. If you have concerns about your hearing, please talk to a doctor.

Why doesn't it work?

Quick fixes for the most common problems

SoundAlert doesn't lower the volume. What should I check first?

First check that protection is switched on: open SoundAlert and tap Turn ON Protection on the Home tab — it is off after installing. Then make sure Usage Access is turned on for SoundAlert (usually Settings › Apps › Special app access › Usage access › SoundAlert; names vary slightly by phone brand). SoundAlert uses it only to see which app is in the foreground, so your limit applies only in the apps you chose. It stays on your phone.

It works for a few minutes, then stops.

Android is probably stopping SoundAlert in the background to save battery. Allow SoundAlert to run without restrictions. Samsung: Settings › Apps › SoundAlert › Battery › Unrestricted. Other brands are similar (for example Battery › Don't optimize or No restrictions).

I don't see any alerts or the SoundAlert notification.

On Android 13 and newer, SoundAlert needs permission to show notifications. It uses them for its alerts and for the ongoing notification that keeps monitoring running. Turn them on in Settings › Apps › SoundAlert › Notifications.

It works in one app but not in another.

Monitoring is set up per app. In SoundAlert, check that the app is selected and switched on. The free version monitors 1 app; PRO and LIFETIME cover all supported apps.

My ringtone, notification or alarm volume doesn't change.

That's by design. SoundAlert only handles media volume (videos, music, browsers and social apps). It never changes your ringtone, notifications or alarm.

The switch is grayed out ("Restricted setting").

Android 13 and newer restricts some permissions for apps installed outside Google Play (from an APK file). Install SoundAlert from Google Play. If you already have an APK version: open App info › ⋮ menu › Allow restricted settings, then turn on Usage Access.

Still not working?
