It watches the media volume while you use the apps you chose (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Spotify, Chrome and others). When the volume is above your limit, it lowers it automatically within about a second and shows a short, silent "✅ Volume auto-reduced" notification. Calls, notifications and alarms are never touched.

Protection is off after installation. Open SoundAlert → Home → tap "Turn ON Protection". You should then see the notification "SoundAlert Active". Also make sure Usage Access is allowed (see H1).

Turn protection on, make sure YouTube (or your chosen app) has a ✓ in Settings → Monitored Apps, open that app and raise the volume above your limit (default 50 %; on phones with 15 volume steps that's the 8th step, 53 %). Within about a second it drops and a green notification appears. Testing inside SoundAlert or on the home screen does nothing — SoundAlert only acts inside protected apps.

They’re a demonstration only. On Home it animates the number from 75 % to 90 % and back (with a short vibration if "Haptic Feedback" is on); in Settings it shows the "Volume Testing" explanation. Neither changes your real volume or sends a real alert. For a real test, see A3.

YouTube is switched on automatically when you finish the intro. You can change or add apps in Settings → Monitored Apps (tap an app's card; ✓ = protected).

No. It works with your phone's media volume level (the % of the volume slider), not with the loudness of the content. A video that's loud in itself at a low volume setting won't be caught — lower your limit or target if needed.

It checks about once per second while a protected app is open, so usually within about a second.

Phones change volume in steps (often 15 steps: 6, 13, 20, 26, 33 … %). SoundAlert uses the nearest real step and the slider shows that value.

The alert fires when the volume is strictly above the limit. With 15 steps, 46 % is under 50 % and the next step, 53 %, is above.

No. It only acts while the screen is on and unlocked, in a protected app. When you unlock the phone, it starts checking again.

Only while a protected app is in front. If Spotify plays in the background while you're in an app that isn't protected, nothing is checked. If a protected app is in front, the (shared) media volume is checked.

No — SoundAlert itself, home screens/launchers and system screens are ignored on purpose.

The alert closes ("✅ Volume kept") and you won't be alerted again while you stay in that app at that volume. A new alert comes after 30 minutes, if you leave the app for 5+ seconds and return, if the screen goes off and on, or if the volume drops to your limit and goes above it again.

It lowers the media volume to your "Reduce to level" (never raises it; at least one step down) and shows "✅ Volume reduced to X%".

On (default): the volume is lowered automatically and you get a green confirmation. Off: you get a red "🚨 High volume!" alert with "REDUCE NOW" and "Keep", and nothing changes unless you tap.

No. Auto-reduce and REDUCE NOW only ever lower the volume. Only "Restore" in Emergency Mode puts back the level you had before muting.

SoundAlert plays no sound at all — the point is that nobody hears anything. If your phone vibrates when the volume is lowered, turn off Smart Features → "Haptic Feedback". If you still hear a sound, email us your phone model and when it happens — it may come from the video itself or from another app.

It’s the vibration setting for SoundAlert’s alerts (off by default) and stays as you set it. It works with LIFETIME or during the trial; on FREE and PRO it’s shown faded and offers LIFETIME, and after the trial ends it shows off.

They only reflect how high the media volume setting is (🟢 low … 🔴 80 % and up). They’re not a measurement of sound.

Auto-reduce still lowers the volume. In alert-only mode you get a short text message instead of the alert, without buttons.

Yes — turn on Smart Features → "Haptic Feedback" (LIFETIME or trial): a short pulse when the volume is lowered, a double pulse with the REDUCE NOW / Keep alert, and a vibration for Emergency Mode. It may follow your phone’s own vibration settings. There’s no sound option on purpose — the point is that nobody hears anything.

Settings → Alert Settings → "Alert when volume is above:" (0–100 %). Lower = steps in sooner.

Settings → "Reduce to level:" (snaps to real volume steps). Also used by REDUCE NOW.

"Quiet" sets the alert limit to 30 %, "Normal" 50 %, "Loud Environment" 70 %. They change only the alert limit, not the reduce-to level. "Custom" leaves your slider as it is.

The highlight isn't remembered; the limit you chose is saved. Check the slider value.

Settings → switch "Automatically reduce" off. A yellow banner "Auto-reduce is off — loud apps only get an alert." appears with "Turn on" to switch it back.

Not manually — the limit and reduce-to level are global. With the trial or LIFETIME, AI Volume Learning can suggest per-app levels that you approve with "Apply".

Not manually. You can switch monitoring off for an output (Settings → Device Type). LIFETIME learns separate levels for the phone speaker and for headphones/Bluetooth and suggests them.

It decides on which outputs SoundAlert monitors. All four are on by default. Phone = built-in speaker; Bluetooth counts as Headphones, Earbuds and Speaker; wired headphones count as Headphones and Earbuds. Monitoring runs if any matching card is on.

Wired: turn off "Headphones" and "Earbuds". Bluetooth: turn off "Headphones", "Earbuds" and "Speaker". Keep "Phone" on for the speaker.

Settings → Monitored Apps → pick a category chip → tap an app's card. ✓ = protected. A toast confirms "<App>: protection on/off".

A few texts stay in English in every language: the first language screen ("Choose Language" / "Continue"), the "Pro" badge and the "Get PRO — …" / "Get Lifetime Access — …" buttons. It’s cosmetic; we’ve noted it.

It’s the third tab at the bottom. In some languages its label is shorter: "Funciones" (es), "Fonctions" (fr), "Funzioni" (it), "Funkcje" (pl), "Funções" (pt), "Recursos" (pt-BR), "Функции" (ru).

Usage Access (required, to know which app is in front), notifications on Android 13+ (for the alerts) and, recommended, battery "Unrestricted"/"Don't optimize" so Android doesn't stop it in the background. No camera, microphone, location or contacts.

It does a light check about once per second only while protection is on. We don't publish battery figures; if you notice unusual drain, tell us your phone model and Android version.

Tap a LIFETIME button (e.g. "Unlock with LIFETIME" on the AI card). As a PRO owner you're offered the upgrade price (reference €3.99) when Google Play provides it.

Google Play billing hasn’t connected yet (no internet, or the Play Store is busy). The app waits up to about 10 seconds and then shows "Billing service not available" — check your internet, open the Play Store once, and tap again. "Purchase cancelled." means the Play sheet was closed; "Purchase failed. Please try again." is an error from Google Play — try again. If it keeps happening, email us your phone model and the type of payment method (never send card details).

Check that the Play Store uses the same Google account you paid with, keep internet on, reopen SoundAlert and wait about 10 seconds. Then tap Smart Features → "Restore Purchase". "Couldn’t reach Google Play…" means a connection problem — try again; "No previous purchase found." means the Google account in the Play Store has no SoundAlert purchase (wrong account, or the payment is still pending). If it still doesn’t unlock, email support@soundalert.com with your Google Play order number (GPA.…) and the purchase date.

Google Play hasn't confirmed the payment yet (e.g., cash or bank methods). It unlocks automatically after confirmation, next time you open SoundAlert.

No. Install SoundAlert with the same Google account in the Play Store; your purchase is restored automatically (or via "Restore Purchase").

Purchases belong to the Google account that bought them; other accounts need their own purchase. Whether Google Play Family Library covers it is decided by Google Play.

Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policy. In the Play Store: profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & history → SoundAlert order → Request a refund / Report a problem (the path may differ). You can also email us the order number (GPA.…) so our team can take a look. We can’t promise the outcome.

Google Play shows prices in your local currency including local taxes. The price you see on the Play purchase screen is the one you pay.

You don’t need to buy it again. For LIFETIME, use the "Get Lifetime Access" button. If you tap PRO again, Google Play refuses a second purchase; the app then re-checks your purchase and shows "Purchase restored successfully!".

We can’t speak for future plans, but today SoundAlert has no ads and no subscriptions, and your one-time purchase stays yours.

Please email support@soundalert.com with both Google Play order numbers (GPA.…) and the dates. Duplicate charges are handled through Google Play, and our team will help you with it.

The app follows what Google Play lists for the Google account that’s active in the Play Store. Most often the Play Store was switched to another Google account: switch it back to the account you paid with, open SoundAlert and wait about 10 seconds (or tap "Restore Purchase") — your purchase and your paused apps come back by themselves. If the order was refunded, the purchased features end; refunds go through Google Play (see I18). If it’s the right account and the order is paid, email us the order number (GPA.…) and the date.

In the trial and with LIFETIME, SoundAlert learns the volume you like in each protected app — separately for the phone speaker and for headphones/Bluetooth — and suggests alert and lower-to levels. Nothing changes until you tap "Apply" (or "Allow X% here"), and you can undo.

It's on-device learning from your own volume choices (statistics over your listening moments). It runs offline; nothing leaves your phone unless you share your sound profile image yourself.

An app is learned after 10 "listening moments" on 2 different days for that output. A listening moment is about a minute of playback at a steady volume, at most 6 per day per app and output, 5 minutes apart.

It only learns in protected apps, with the screen on, media actually playing and a steady volume for about a minute (not during calls, not in Emergency Mode). Check the switch "Learn from my listening" is on. Progress chips show "x of 10 · day y of 2".

If you keep turning a protected app back up after auto-reduce (twice within 10 minutes), the green notification may offer "Allow X% here". One tap lets that app go up to X% on that output. Undo in Smart Features → Recent changes. Trial/LIFETIME only, at most once a day per app and output.

Smart Features → AI card → "Recent changes" → "Undo" (7 days), or "Smart levels in use" → "Reset" for that app. Right after Apply there's also "Undo" in the bottom message.

Switch off "Learn from my listening". Your own settings then apply in every app.

Tap "Forget what SoundAlert learned" → "Forget". Your own settings stay. Data older than 60 days is deleted automatically anyway.

What it learned stays on your phone, paused; your own settings apply. LIFETIME picks up where it left off (listening data older than 60 days is deleted; applied levels stay until reset).

Your sound profile type, based on your usual media volume setting: under 25 %, 25–44 %, 45 % and up. It’s only about the volume setting — SoundAlert doesn’t measure sound.

Smart Features → "⚡ ACTIVATE EMERGENCY MODE" mutes media volume (videos, music, browser, social apps) in one tap; calls, notifications and alarms keep ringing. Available with PRO, LIFETIME and during the trial. The widget’s "🚨 SOS" button does the same.

Smart Features → "↩️ Restore" → "Restore". It puts back the media volume you had before. This always works — even after the trial and after the widget’s SOS.

It's a PRO feature (included in the trial and LIFETIME).

"ON/OFF" starts and stops protection (all plans). "-50%" halves the media volume. "🚨 SOS" mutes media like Emergency Mode (Restore in Smart Features). "-50%" and "SOS" are PRO/trial features — on FREE they open SoundAlert with the PRO offer. Tapping the widget itself opens SoundAlert.

Yes — SOS mutes media, and Smart Features → "↩️ Restore" brings the volume back.

These two buttons belong to Emergency Mode, which is part of PRO (and the trial), just like in the app. On FREE the widget’s ON/OFF, status, limit and today’s count keep working. "-50%" also does nothing when the volume is already at the lowest step (it never mutes).

No. It has no microphone or camera permission and never records audio. It reads the phone's media volume setting and which app is in front.

None from the app. No account, no analytics, no ads, no camera, no microphone. Your settings and counters stay on your phone. We only see what you send us by email.

SoundAlert sends nothing to us. Android's own device backup may include SoundAlert's settings in your Google backup; AI Volume Learning data is excluded from backups.

No ads, no data selling.

Smart Features → "Forget what SoundAlert learned" deletes the learning data; clearing the app's storage or uninstalling deletes everything else. For emails you sent us, ask us to delete them.

The app holds nothing on our side — only the support emails you sent us. Email support@soundalert.com with your request and our team will respond within 30 days.

SoundAlert is meant for users aged 13 and over (see our Terms). It has no ads, no chat and no data collection. It isn’t a parental-control app.

With auto-reduce on, every time the volume goes above your limit in a protected app it is lowered again — that's the feature. If you want it louder there: raise "Alert when volume is above" in Settings, switch that app off, turn "Automatically reduce" off (then you get one alert and can tap Keep), or turn protection off for a while. With the trial or LIFETIME you can also tap "Allow X% here" on the notification.

Usage Access is off, so SoundAlert can’t see which app is open. Allow it (Home banner "Turn on" or Settings → Usage access → SoundAlert). Monitoring then starts by itself within about 5 seconds and the notification changes to "SoundAlert is monitoring apps". If it doesn’t, turn protection off and on once.

Check Settings → Apps → SoundAlert → Notifications: allowed, and the category "Volume warnings (Urgent)" allowed with pop-up / "Pop on screen". Do Not Disturb can hide pop-ups. With auto-reduce on, the volume is still lowered even without the pop-up.

The current HBO Max app is supported — switch it on in Settings → Monitored Apps → Video (it starts off). Skype and Kiwi Browser were discontinued by their makers and are no longer in the list. If another supported app isn’t detected, email us the app name and its version from Google Play.

Some car systems use a fixed volume the phone can't change. Then SoundAlert shows the alert instead. You can turn off Bluetooth outputs in Device Type if you don't want alerts there.

Detection of USB audio depends on the phone. If yours isn’t recognised, email us your phone model and Android version.

Android is stopping it to save battery. Set SoundAlert's battery to "Unrestricted"/"Don't optimize" (brand steps in G3–G7) and reopen the app.

Protection is designed to restart by itself after an update if it was on. If the "SoundAlert Active" notification is missing after an update, open SoundAlert once.

That’s Android 13+ protection for apps installed from an APK file. The easiest fix: install SoundAlert from Google Play. Otherwise: Settings → Apps → SoundAlert → ⋮ (top right) → "Allow restricted settings", then switch Usage Access on.

Monitoring starts by itself within about 5 seconds (as soon as you go back to SoundAlert). If the notification still says "Missing Usage Access permission!", turn protection off and on once, then check the other steps: the app has a ✓, the volume is above your limit, and the battery is set to Unrestricted.

An internal learning error paused it; auto-reduce still works. Turn protection off and on (or restart the phone). If it persists, email us your phone model and app version.

The widget and the app share one switch, and the widget updates as soon as you change it in the app. If they still disagree, tap the widget once or reopen SoundAlert. If it keeps happening, email us your phone model.

Long-press 🌙/☀️ at the top right to open "SoundAlert diagnostics" and send a screenshot. Or use Smart Features → "📧 Contact / Support", which adds your app version, phone model and Android version.

Protection isn't running: turn it on on Home; if it keeps stopping, fix battery settings (G1).
